The Natural History Museum received the Kids Love London Best Family Fun Award 2008 at a glittering ceremony at the Royal Albert Hall last week.
Visit London is the official visitor organisation for the city and its Peoples’ Choice Awards celebrate London's best attractions, experiences and venues.
The public voted in categories such as best market, retailer, Londoner, music venue and more.
The Museum came top of the list as the favourite place for family fun, beating the Tower of London, London Zoo, the London Eye, the Science Museum and Madame Tussauds.
'To be voted the best by the public is wonderful and more meaningful than receiving a commendation from other organisations,' says Robert How, the Museum’s Customer Service Evaluation Manager, who collected the award
'Not only did I feel so excited, but also honoured to have received this award on behalf of all my colleagues, who are so dedicated to ensuring the Museum maintains its status as one of the best places to visit in London, if not the world.'
The Natural History Museum attracts more than 3 million visitors a year to its varied and exciting exhibits, displays and exhibitions.
From the spectacular Diplodocus in the Central Hall and the 'ultimate dinosaur exhibition'; a hands-on science centre and behind-the-scenes tours where you can see the giant squid; to an earthquake experience and gallery dedicated to creepy crawlies, there's something for everyone.
Robert concludes, 'This award reminds me why the Museum is such a special place for so many people. It’s like a much loved member of the family.'
