Ice rink 2014 - celebrating ten years

Set amongst one of the most iconic settings in the capital, the Natural History Museum Ice Rink has returned for the festive season.

Celebrating ten years in the foreground of the world-famous building, the Ice Rink is now open to skaters until Sunday 4 January. The Ice Rink is set to welcome visitors from London, the UK and beyond as friends and family come together to enjoy this magical time of year.

As the city readies for the 2014 winter season, the Ice Rink offers a festive haven within the beautiful surroundings of the Natural History Museum, one of Britain’s most popular visitor attractions. Beneath almost 80,000 twinkling fairy lights and surrounding a glittering 40 ft Christmas tree, beginners and advanced skaters alike can enjoy the 1,000 square meter rink.

This year, to make the experience truly special, the Ice Rink partners with Lindt Master Chocolatiers with an interactive Christmas chalet bringing to life the delicious Lindt Bear and other Christmas chocolate favourites.

The chalet will delight both the young and young-at-heart with complimentary truffles to sample and a variety of festive activities to capture those special Christmas moments. Visitors to the Lindt Christmas Chalet will also be in with a chance of winning exciting weekly prizes.

The Ice Rink also offers ‘SK8’ sessions where all can take to the ice for extended skating periods. ‘SK8’ sessions will run Monday – Friday, 11:00 to 13:40 from Thursday 30 October to Friday 21 November and Monday – Friday, 10:00 to 13:40 from Monday 24 November to Friday 12 December. Customers can purchase a ticket at any point during these times.

On weekdays in November, the Ice Rink holds special sessions for parents and toddlers, and for students who present their NUS card at the box office.

Parents with pre-school children can enjoy special rate skating sessions with complimentary drinks for both adult and child in the cafe afterwards. Students will also benefit from an exclusive special rate and complimentary drink. More details and terms & conditions of the special offers and promotions can be found on the website.
