Science, society and skills
We are inspiring a new generation of professional and amateur scientists through training, citizen science and live science events.
As a leading international scientific research centre we have a unique opportunity to pass on valuable skills in science, curation and public engagement.
Training, events and citizen science
We are focusing on three areas of activity:
- Developing a national programme of training in science, curation and public engagement including postgraduate courses, Identification Trainers for the Future and professional training.
- Establishing an innovative citizen science programme that combines public participation with high-impact, relevant science, by introducing more projects like Notes from Nature or The Microverse.
- Delivering face-to-face and online events that engage the public with contemporary scientific questions and discoveries, building on the success of our daily Nature Live events and annual Science Uncovered.
