Summary

As a Researcher my main interests include: the systematics of platyhelminths (flatworms) and other phyla, particularly with a view to revealing evolutionary patterns associated with parasitism, the development and application of molecular tools for species diagnosis, life cycle completion and biodiversity assessment. To this end I use mitogenomics and phylogenomics pursued by means of next generation sequencing and more traditional Sanger sequencing. I also have an interest in developing, enhancing and utlising natural history collections for disease and biomedical research. As current Head of Department I'm keen to develop staff, collections and the diverse science we pursue in line with the goals of the NHM.
