Summary

I am a software engineer in the museum's informatics group where I work on a number of projects involved with the digitisation of the museum's collections. I am particularly interested in processes and software related to the high-throughput digital imaging of specimens, such as barcoding, segmentation of scanned images, crowdsourcing and interfaces to collections management software. My second role within the museum is as a post-doc in Andy Purvis' lab, where I work on PREDICTS (Projecting Responses of Ecological Diversity In Changing Terrestrial Systems) - a collaborative project that is investigating how biodiversity in terrestrial communities responds to human pressures. We model biodiversity responses at a global scale using data collected at local levels. Our results will provide indicators of responses both at a global scale and at smaller scales, such as within a nation or for a particular biome.
