Summary

I am a mineralogist mainly focusing on alterations to secondary minerals and phase transitions in various environments, from low to high temperature, and in various range of settings. Past research experiences include: - clathrate-to-silica phase transitions related to degassing of methane - mineral weathering and clay mineral formation in proglacial environment, linked to global warming, climate changes and soil forming processes - major elemental fluxes deriving from low temperature alteration of primary phases - cathodoluminescence applied to mineral weathering Currently I am pursuing a Marie Curie Post Doc on Earth analogue of Martian rocks which have been formed as a consequence of acidic alteration. My current interests are (but not restricted to): - low temperature formation of clay minerals and elemental leaching from the parental phases, in both pedogenic and non-pedogenic processes - acidic alteration of minerals and their (mostly clay) secondary products - investigation of unusual mineralogical occurrences for outreaching purposes (collectors)
