Diagnosis Carinacea with
  • periproct enclosed within apical disc (i.e., regular echinoids)
  • ambulacral and interambulacral tubercles identical in size
  • tubercles imperforate
  • ambulacral plate compounding in diadematid or stomopneustid style
Range Lower Jurassic to Recent, worldwide
Type Stomopneustes
