Family Glypticidae Lambert & Thiery, 1914, p. 261

Diagnosis Arbacioids with:
  • apical disc dicyclic; periproct small, subpentagonal with smooth edges;
  • ambulacra trigeminate. plate compounding in glypticid style (one demiplate and two large elements, the lower being larger);
  • epistroma in the form of irregular pustules developed adapically;
  • tubercles imperforate and non-crenulate;
  • peristome much larger than apical disc;
  • spines with smooth cortex.
Range Middle to Upper Jurassic, Europe, North Africa.
Remarks This family is distinguished by the characteristic coarse epistromal granulation developed over aboral interambulacral plates.
