Fletcher & Nye (1982) stated:-
A. chloroptera Boisduval, 1870, was described from three syntypes; one from Guatemala in the Orza collection, one from Honduras and one from Para, the latter two in the BMNH. The Orza specimen cannot now be traced; of the two specimens in the BMNH only the syntype from Honduras can be traced with certainty; the syntype from Para was probably the same specimen as a syntype of Enyo carinata Walker, 1856. A lectotype has been designated in this catalogue for each of the two species. The designation of the lectotype of E. carinata will be found under Gonenyo Butler, 1876.
Aleuron chloroptera Boisduval, 1870, ibidem: 71. LECTOTYPE male, here designated, Honduras: 45-123 [Dyson] in BMNH.
Aleuron chloroptera Boisduval, 1870, is a junior subjective synonym of Sphinx chloroptera Perty, 1830-1834, in Martius, Delectus Anim. articulatorum Bras. (3): 155, pl.31, fig.3.
