Syntype(s) - male INDIA: Khasi Hills, (BMNH, London).. Fletcher (1979) cited "[INDIA]: Khasia Hills" as the type data.

Fletcher (1979) stated:-

D. ustata is a junior subjective synonym of Lipomelia subusta Warren, 1893, Proc. zool. Soc. Lond. 1893: 360, pl.32, fig.24.
In the library of the Dept. of Zoology, BMNH, the wrapper of the part of Ann. Mag. nat. Hist. containing page 151 is stamped 1 August 1893, the date of receipt. The wrapper of part II of the Proc. zool. Soc. Lond. 1893, containing page 359, is also dated 1 August 1893. I have found no evidence either in the libraries of the BMNH or in that of the Zoological Society of London to support the statement by Swinhoe, 1894, Trans. ent. Soc. Lond. 1894: 171 that his paper of August 1893 antedated that of Warren, also August 1893; I have therefore followed the synonymy established by Prout, 1934, in Strand, Lepid. Cat. 61: 158, where D. ustata Swinhoe is placed as a junior subjective synonym of L. subusta Warren. See also Lipomelia Warren, 1893.
See also Lipomelia Warren, 1893.

Parsons et al. (1999) included DEFOA Swinhoe, 1893 as a junior synonym of LIPOMELIA Warren, 1893.
