Fletcher & Nye (1982) stated:-

The title of volume 3 of Schmetterlinge von Europa was included in 1810 [April 29], Allgemeines Verzeichniss der Bücher, weiche in der Frankfurter und Leipziger Ostermesse des 1810 Jahnes ... sollen: 126. The Aligemeines Verzeichniss included titles of recently published works, of newly revised editions of previously published works and of works to be published in the future. The Verzeichniss as published twice yearly, that for the Ostermesse [Easter Fair] on the Saturday following the Easter holiday, that for the Michaelismesse [Michaelmas Fair] fourteen days before the Fair commenced. Titles of works for inclusion in the Ostermesse-Verzeichniss had to be submitted at the beginning of the week preceding `Lütare' [fourth Sunday of Lent], those for inclusion in the Michaelismesse-Verzeichniss by 24 August.

In 1810 Easter Sunday fell on 22 April and the fourth Sunday in Lent fell on 1 April. Titles of works for inclusion in the Ostermesse-Verzeichniss for 1810 would have had to be submitted during the week ending 31 March. The inclusion of volume 3 of the Schmetterlinge von Europa in the Ostermesse-Verzeichniss evidently referred to a work still in press, for the preface to the volume is dated 'Juny 1810`. It was expected well before the end of August 1810, otherwise announcement of the volume would have been deferred until the Michaelismesse-Verzeichniss. As no further announcement was made for the publication of volume 3 of Schmetterlinge von Europa, I have assumed that it was published before the Michaelismesse-Verzeichniss was compliled in late August 1810 and have adopted 31 August 1810 as its date of publication. Thus Aglia Ochsenheimer 1810 [August 31] antedates Tachyptena Germar, 1810 October 20.
