Hemming (1967) stated:-

It is of interest to note that in this paper Dalman was the first author to introduce in the butterflies the concept of a type-species for a genus, using the formula : "Generis Typus : A. urticae.".

AGLAIS was included within the subfamily NYMPHALIDAE: NYMPHALINAE by Ackery et al., in Kristensen (1999).
