Fletcher (1979) stated:-

This generic name was first published as a synonym of Geometra Linnaeus, 1758, but was treated subsequently by Warren, 1894, Novitates Zoologica 1: 447 as an available name with its original authorship and was adopted by him as the name of a taxon, thus fulfilling the criteria of availability under Article 11(d) of the Code.

G. saturataria is a junior subjective synonym of Phalaena festivaria Fabricius, 1794, Ent. Syst. 3 (2): 152.

Holloway (1993). Moths of Borneo (11): 24 brought Celenna out of synonym with Hypochrosis with saturataria Walker =festivaria Fabricius as the type-species (see Celenna

Parsons et al. (1999) included 9 species and 4 subspecies (inc. nominates) in the geneus CELENNA.
