Nye (1975) stated:-

W. eudesmia is a junior subjective synonym of Prothrinax ocellata Barnes & McDunnough, 1910, Can. Ent. 42: 246.

Poole (1989) included WALTERELLA in the subfamily AMPHIPYRINAE, subsequently restricted to the genus AMPHIPYRA by Kitching & Rawlins, in Kristensen (1999). Other genera formerly treated in the subfamily AMPHIPYRINAE are treated as HADENINAE by Kitching & Rawlins (loc. cit.).

Poole (1989) included only 1 species in the genus WALTERELLA.
