Hemming (1967) stated:-

The taxon represented by the nominal species Nisoniades diodes Moore is currently treated subjectively on taxonomic grounds as a subspecies of the taxon represented by the older-established nominal species Hesperia nigrita Latreille, [1824] (Ency. m├ęth. 9 (Ins.) (2) : 788 [note at end of descr. of Hesperia philenor]).
