Nye (1975) stated:-

Under the Code, Article 32(c)(i), the name * Hönei is an incorrect original spelling. Being formed from a German personal name, it must be replaced by hoenei.

Poole (1989) included TAENEREMA in the subfamily AMPHIPYRINAE, subsequently restricted to the genus AMPHIPYRA by Kitching & Rawlins, in Kristensen (1999). Other genera formerly treated in the subfamily AMPHIPYRINAE are treated as HADENINAE by Kitching & Rawlins (loc. cit.).

Poole (1989) included only 1 species in the genus TAENEREMA.
