Syntomeida was established as a subgenus of Glaucopis Fabricius, 1807, in the `Zygaenides', now Zygaenidae: it was placed in the Euchromiidae, now Ctenuchidae by Neumoegen & Dyar, 1893, Jl N.Y. ent. Soc. 1: 101.
