Fletcher (1979) stated:-

Swinhoe, 1893, Ann. Mag. nat. Hist. (6) 12:150 published a note in which he stated that his original designation of Anisodes diffusaria Moore, 1868, as type-species of Synegiodes was a lapsus; the original generic description and the woodcut figure published with it were based on A. sanguinaria not on A. diffusaria.

Parsons et al. (1999) included 7 species and 2 subspecies (inc. nominates) in the genus SYNEGIODES.
