Watson, Fletcher & Nye (1980) and Nye & Fletcher (1991) stated:-

Strepsimanes was established as the type-genus of the Strepsimanidae Meyrick, 1930, in the Microlepidoptera. The family was transferred to the Noctuidae [should read Noctuoidea] by Hodges, 1978, in Dominick et al., Moths Am. N. of Mexico 6 (1): 11.
