Nye (1975) stated:-

Available, but without included species until Hampson, 1910, ibidem 9: x, 245. N. obtusa is dated from the wrapper of the plates and not from the title-page of the volume, 1850-1858.

Poole (1989) included STIRIODES in the subfamily AMPHIPYRINAE, subsequently restricted to the genus AMPHIPYRA by Kitching & Rawlins, in Kristensen (1999). Other genera formerly treated in the subfamily AMPHIPYRINAE are treated as HADENINAE by Kitching & Rawlins (loc. cit.).

Poole (1989) included 8 species in the genus STIRIODES.
