Linnaeus, 1764, Mus. Ludovicae Ulricae: 376, No. 11, cited retorta without any reference to Clerck but on page 379 referred to Clerck t.54, f.I. In the absence of more exact dating I am following Sherborn, 1902, Index Anim. (1758-1800): 829, and giving Clerck priority.
