Fletcher (1979) stated:-

Sorocaba was originally proposed in the Sphingidae, but has since been transferred to the Lymantriidae where it was placed by Schaus, 1927, in Seitz, Gross-Schmett. Erde 6: 559. S. anomala is a junior subjective synonym of Ceratonyx carmelitaria Guenée, 1857, the type-species of Ceratophora Guenée, 1858.

Watson, Fletcher & Nye (1980) stated:-

S. anomala is a junior subjective synonym of Ceratonyx carmelitaria Guenée, 1857, the type-species of Ceratophora Guenée, 1858.

Sorocaba was established in the Sphingidae; it was placed in the Lymantriidae by Schaus, 1927, in Seitz, Gross-Schmett. Erde 6: 559.

Sorocaba Moore, 1882 was treated in the Lymantriidae by Watson, Fletcher and Nye, 1980, 2 : 181. Sorocaba has subsequently transferred from the Lymantriidae to the Apatelodidae by Minet, 1986, Alexanor 14 (7) : 303.
