Publication of volume 3 of Hist. nat. gén. particulière Crustacés Insectes was announced in [1802 November 6] an XI Brumaire 15, J. Typogr. Biblphique 6 (6): 42. Brumaire, the name of a month adopted in France after the Revolution, was the equivalent of 23 October-21 November.

SMERINTHUS was included within the subfamily SPHINGIDAE: SMERINTHINAE by Lemaire & Minet, in Kristensen (1999).
