Fletcher (1979) stated:-

This genus was originally proposed in the Drepanulidae (now Drepanidae), but was transferred to the Geometridae by Prout, 1932, J. fed. Malay St. Mus. 17: 55, when he placed S. baletensis as a junior subjective synonym of Bytharia uniformis Swinhoe, 1902, Trans. ent. Soc. Lond. 1902: 643.

Parsons et al. (1999) included LONGIPALPA Pagenstecher, 1900; and SILVASPICA Schultze, 1925 as junior synonyms of BYTHARIA Walker, 1865.
