S. buettneri was originally proposed as * A. buttneri which under the Code, Article 32(c)(i) is an incorrect original spelling, and being formed from a German name the 'ΓΌ' must be changed to 'ue.'

Poole (1989) included SEDINA in the subfamily AMPHIPYRINAE, subsequently restricted to the genus AMPHIPYRA by Kitching & Rawlins, in Kristensen (1999). Other genera formerly treated in the subfamily AMPHIPYRINAE are treated as HADENINAE by Kitching & Rawlins (loc. cit.).

Poole (1989) included only 1 species in the genus SEDINA.
