Schalidomitra was established in the Lymantriidae; it was transferred to the Noctuidae by C.L. Collenette and W.H.T. Tams in the collection of the BMNH; and was placed in the Noctuidae, Ophiderinae, by Nye, 1975, Generic Names Moths World 1: 441.

Poole (1989) included SCHALIDOMITRA in the subfamily OPHIDERINAE, treated as CALPINAE by Kitching & Rawlins, in Kristensen (1999).

Poole (1989) included only 1 species in the genus SCHA
