Fletcher & Nye (1982) stated:-

Sabalia was established in the Saturniidae; it was placed in the Lasiocampidae by Kirby, 1892, Synonymic Cat. Lepid. Heterocera 1: 800; and in the Eupterotidae by Gaede, 1926, in Seitz, Gross-Schmett. Erde 14: 301. Berger, 1958, Lambillionea 57: 73, transferred Sabalia from the Eupterotidae to the Lemoniidae and proposed for it a new subfamily, Sabaliinae.

SABALIA was included within the family LEMONIIDAE by Lemaire & Minet, in Kristensen (1999).
