Nye (1975) stated:-

Berio himself stated in the original description that the type-species (described intentionally as 'n. sp.') was probably the same as Hypogramma uncinata Saalm├╝ller, 1891, Lepid. Madagascar: 431, fig. 162.

Poole (1989) included SAALUNCIFERA in the subfamily AMPHIPYRINAE, subsequently restricted to the genus AMPHIPYRA by Kitching & Rawlins, in Kristensen (1999). Other genera formerly treated in the subfamily AMPHIPYRINAE are treated as HADENINAE by Kitching & Rawlins (loc. cit.).

Poole (1989) included 2 species in the genus SAALUNCIFERA.
