Rachesa was established in the Hemileucinae as a subgenus of Eubergioides Michener, 1949; it was transferred to the Ceratocampinae and placed as a subgenus of Adelowalkeria Travassos, 1941, by Michener, 1952, Bull. Am. Mus. nat. Hist. 98: 373, 405. Rachesa was raised to generic level by Lemaire, 1975, Lambillionea 75 Bis: 66.
