Notes:
Pyrois was treated in the Noctuidae, Acronictinae/Amphipyrinae by Nye, 1975, 1 : 423. It is now placed in the Arctiidae, Syntominae with its junior objective synonym Syntomopus. See SYNTOMOPUS.

Poole (1989) included PYROIS in the subfamily AMPHIPYRINAE, subsequently restricted to the genus AMPHIPYRA by Kitching & Rawlins, in Kristensen (1999). Other genera formerly treated in the subfamily AMPHIPYRINAE are treated as HADENINAE by Kitching & Rawlins (loc. cit.).

Poole (1989) included SYNTOMOPUS Hampson, 1908 as a junior synonym of PYROIS Hübner, 1820.
