Nye & Fletcher (1991) stated:-

Pteropygme was established as an objective replacement name for Synaphia Pagenstecher, 1900, a junior homonym.

The late J. Kyrki of Finland had informed us that Pteropygme should be in the Gelechioidea but he did not know its correct family.
