Nye (1975) stated:-

Arbostola probably originated as a misspelling of Abrostola Ochsenheimer, 1816, but based on viridis is in a different subfamily. Dyar, 1921, Insecutor Inscit. menst. 9: 45, pointed this out, accepted it as a good genus, and described another species in it.

Poole (1989) included 3 species in the genus ARBOSTOLA.
