Fletcher (1979) stated:-

Phalaena transversata Drury, 1773, Illust. nat. Hist. exot. Insects 2: index to 1; 1770, ibidem 1: 16, pl.8, fig.2, is a junior primary homonym of Phalaena transversata Hufnagel, 1767, Berl. Mag. 4: 600 - Lepid. Geometridae. The objective replacement name is Phalaena lineola Goeze, 1781.

Species described and illustrated by Drury in volume 1 of the above work were without scientific names until its index was published with the second volume in 1773; see text of volume 2: vi.

Parsons et al. (1999) included AESCHROPTERYX Butler, 1883; and CHOERODES Guenée, 1857 as junior synonyms of PROCHOERODES Grote, 1883.

Parsons et al. (1999) included 23 species and 7 subspecies (inc. nominates) in the genus PROCHOERODES.
