The taxon represented by the nominal species Telegonus omphale Butler is currently treated subjectively on taxonomic grounds as a subspecies of the taxon represented by the older-established nominal species Eudamus passalus Herrich-Schaeffer, 1869 (CorrespBl. zool.-min. Ver. Regensburg 23 : 172 [repaged offprint as Prodromus 3 : 64]).

Cowan (1970: 54) stated:-
