Poloma was established in the Liparidae, now Lymantriidae; it was placed in the Lasiocampidae by Kirby, 1892, Synonymic Cat. Lepid. Heterocera 1: 810, 937; and in the Striphnopterygidae, now Eupterotidae, by Aurivillius, 1901, Bih. K. svenska VetenskAkad. Handl. 27 (4) (7): 6, 11.
