Poliobrya Hampson, 1908 was downgraded to denote a subgenus of Victrix Staudinger, 1879 by Varga and Ronkay, 1989, Nota Lepidopterologica1 2 (1) : 69.

Poole (1989) included POLIOBRYA in the subfamily AMPHIPYRINAE, subsequently restricted to the genus AMPHIPYRA by Kitching & Rawlins, in Kristensen (1999). Other genera formerly treated in the subfamily AMPHIPYRINAE are treated as HADENINAE by Kitching & Rawlins (loc. cit.).
