Nye (1975) stated:-

In the original description this genus was written as 'Plusiophaƫs'. Under the Code, Article 32 (c) (i), the diaeresis has been deleted.

Poole (1989) included PLUSIOPHAES in the subfamily AMPHIPYRINAE, subsequently restricted to the genus AMPHIPYRA by Kitching & Rawlins, in Kristensen (1999). Other genera formerly treated in the subfamily AMPHIPYRINAE are treated as HADENINAE by Kitching & Rawlins (loc. cit.).

Poole (1989) included 20 species in the genus PLUSIOPHAES.
