Nye (1975) stated:-

A. wimmerii is a junior subjective synonym of Anthophila obliterata Rambur, 1833, Annls Soc. ent. Fr. 2: 27, pl. 2, fig. 17.

Phyllophila Guenée, 1852 was treated in the Noctuidae, Acontiinae in Nye 1975, Generic Names Moths World, 1 : 388. Phyllophila has subsequently been referred to the Tytinae from the Acontiinae within the Noctuidae by Speidel, Fanger & Naumann, 1996, Systematic Entomology 21 (3) : 247.

Poole (1989) included 14 species in the genus PHYLLOPHILA.
