Fletcher (1979) stated:-
Phanerothyris was nomenclaturally available from 1895 but the only included name, Boarmia * Incertaria Leech which Warren designated as type-species, was a nomen nudum. No additional information or explanation appears in Warren's manuscript or in his notebooks and Prout recorded in his Ascotinae notebook `There is no such species in Leech, 1897, nor do I find in BM nor in Entomologist (Suppl.) '.
I have not found any subsequently included species, so in order to place this generic name I have included the above-designated type-species, Tephrosia brunnearia, which agrees in structure with the generic diagnosis.
T. brunnearia is a junior subjective synonym of Tephrosia sinearia Guenée, 1857, in Boisduval & Guenée, Hist. nat. Insectes, (Spec. gén. Lépid.) 9: 269.
