Fletcher (1979) stated:-

The misspelling was introduced by Guenée, 1857, in Boisduval & Guenée, Hist. nat. Insectes, (Spec. gén. Lépid.) 10: 30 and repeated by Walker, 1861, List Specimens lepid. Insects Colln Br. Mus. 23: 815, by Warren, 1897, and by Gaede, 1928, in Seitz, Gross-Schmett. Erde 14: 390, who attributed * Angulataria to Guenée.

Phalaena angulata Fabricius is a junior primary homonym of Phalaena angulata Hufnagel, 1767, Berl. Mag. 4: 604 - Lepid. Geometridae. There is no objective replacement name, but P. angulata Fabricius is believed to be conspecific with Micronia instabilaria Walker, 1861, List Specimens lepid. Insects Colln Br. Mus. 23: 825. The latter may thus be used as a subjective replacement name.
