Poole (1989) included PERIGEA in the subfamily AMPHIPYRINAE, subsequently restricted to the genus AMPHIPYRA by Kitching & Rawlins, in Kristensen (1999). Other genera formerly treated in the subfamily AMPHIPYRINAE are treated as HADENINAE by Kitching & Rawlins (loc. cit.). However, the latter included PERIGEA in the subfamily CONDICINAE.

Poole (1989) included BAGADA Walker, 1858 (on page 786); and PERIGEODES Hampson, 1908 as junior synonyms of PERIGEA Guenée, 1852.

Poole (1989) included 19 species in the genus PERIGEA.
