Paralacydes was established as the objective replacement name for Maenas Hübner, [1819].

P. vocula is dated from the wrapper of the part and not from the title-page of the volume, 1791.

Paralacydes Aurivillius, 1899, was designated as a valid genus and brought out of synonymy by Barlow, 1982, An introduction to the moths of south east Asia, p.217. [Paralacydes was treated as a valid genus by Watson, Fletcher & Nye, 1980].
