Fletcher & Nye (1982) stated:-

Paracossus was first published as a monotypic genus on the legend to plate D, included in part 1 of volume 16, where the type-species was illustrated.

A diagnosis of Paracossus and the description of P. furcata and of a second species, P. parva sp.n., were published the following year by Hampson, 1905 April 15, ibidem 16 (2): 194, 195.
