Nye (1975) stated:-

N. basilinea is a junior subjective synonym of Phalaena sordens Hufnagel, 1776, Berlin. Mag. 3(3): 306.

Poole (1989) included APAMEA in the subfamily AMPHIPYRINAE, restricted to the genus AMPHIPYRA by Kitching (199) in Kristensen. Other genera formerly included in AMPHIPYRINAE are included in the HADENINAE by Kitching, (loc. cit.).
