Nye (1975) stated:-

Ostha seleniata Walker, [1863] 1862, ibidem 26:1687, is an unjustified emendation of O.sileniata Walker, 1862.

Fletcher (1979, Generic Names of Moths of the World) stated:-

This genus was originally proposed in the Geometridae, but has since been transferred to the Noctuidae; the first published reference to its use in this family appears to have been by Schaus, 1913, Ann. Mag. nat. Hist. (8) 11: 2.

Poole (1989) included OSTHA in the subfamily OPHIDERINAE, treated as CALPINAE by Kitching & Rawlins, in Kristensen (1999).

Poole (1989) included 14 species in the genus OSTHA.
