Poole (1989) included PHORNACISA Walker, 1862 (as PHORNACISSA on page 727); METAHADENA Morrison, 1876; and COPIHADENA Morrison, 1875 as junior synonyms of ONCOCNEMIS Lederer, 1853.

Poole (1989) included 106 species in the genus ONCOCNEMIS.
