Fletcher (1979) stated:-

The genus was originally proposed in the Melameridae (now Dioptidae), but has since been transferred to the Geometridae, where it was placed by Dyar, 1910, Proc. U.S. natn. Mus. 38: 260.

Parsons et al. (1999) included OENOTRUS Druce, 1885; and TROCHIODES Guenée, 1857 as junior synonyms of EUTREPSIA Herrich-Schäffer, 1855.
