Fletcher (1979) stated:-
G. dichroaria is a junior subjective synonym of Petovia marginata Walker, 1854 [May 13], List Specimens lepid. Insects Colln Br. Mus. 2: 560; the date of publication of this volume of Walker's work is taken from Nye, 1975, Generic Names Moths World 1: 6. G. dichroaria is dated from the issue of plate 39 of Herrich-Schäffer's work; Dalla Torre, 1927, Ent. NachrBl. Troppau 1 (2): 2, has shewn the date of issue of this plate to have been May 1854. In accordance with Article 21(b)(i) of the Code, which states
that the date of publication is to be interpreted as the last date of the stated month when month and year, but not the day, are stated, G. dichroaria is dated 31 May 1854.
