This genus was originally proposed in the Drepanidae, but was transferred to the Bombycidae by Kirby, 1892, Synonymic Cat. Lepid. Heterocera 1: 722.

Fletcher & Nye (1982) stated:-

Anticla was established in the Drepanulidae, now Drepanidae; it was placed in the Bombycidae by Druce, 1887, Biologia cent.-am. (Zool.) Lepid.-Heterocera 1: 225; it was placed in the Bombycidae, subfamily Epiinae, now included in the Apatelodidae, by Draudt, 1929, in Seitz, Gross-Schmett. Erde 6: 676, 690.
