This genus was originally proposed in the Geometridae, but has been placed in the Noctuidae by Nye, 1975, Generic Names Moths World 1: 329.

Poole (1989) included NARULLA in the subfamily OPHIDERINAE, treated as CALPINAE by Kitching & Rawlins, in Kristensen (1999).

Poole (1989) included only 1 species in the genus NARULLA.
